Vale Peter Trease

  • by

Magnetic Island RSL is saddened to report the passing of the much-loved and highly-respected Peter ‘Jack’ Trease. Peter was born in 1948 in the Gippsland area of Victoria and in 1969 was conscripted into the Australian Army to serve in the Vietnam War. After basic training, he served in Vietnam as a machine gunner with 2RAR from May 1970 to June 1971.

The iconic black and white photo of Peter, a copy of which hangs in our Memorial Hall, was taken in Phuoc Toy Province in May 1971.

In later years, Peter was well known for his work for North Queensland Legacy, for the Legacy units at Arcadia and for his frequent trips to Vietnam delivering clothing to families.

The Members of Magnetic Island RSL express their deepest condolences to his wife Nancy, to his extended family and his friends. He will long be remembered as a great and compassionate man.

LEST WE FORGET.
