ANZAC Day 2022

Herewith is the Order of Service for the ANZAC Day Dawn Service which will be held on Magnetic Island. The public are requested to assemble 0n the Geoffrey Bay side of the cenotaph. The Magnetic Island RSL Board are happy to confirm that there will be a blank firing from military vessels which will be stationed in Alma Bay for the service.

ORDER OF SERVICE

0440   Gunfire Breakfast at RSL Memorial Hall

0510   Parade Marshall (WO2 Harton) assembles parade in front of RSL in 3-4 files.

0520   Parade marches to Stone of Remembrance at Alma Bay (keep left in tight formation)

0520   Catafalque Party mounts at Alma Bay (No 35 Water Transport Squadron)

0530   Service commences

  • MC Introduction/Welcome 
  • Welcome Address – Sub-Branch President, Geoff Barlow
  • Prayer for the Fallen – Philip Allnutt
  • ANZAC Day Address – MAJ Nathan Alcock, OC 35 Water Transport Squadron
  • Poem Reading – Magnetic Island State School Students – ‘Sir’ by Damian Morgan
  • Wreath Laying – MC Calls upon official guests, then others, to lay wreaths/books
  • Extract from the ‘Ode to the Fallen’ by Laurence Binyon – Colin Fulford
  • The Last Post – played by Andrew Dajski
  • Piper’s Lament
  • One minute’s silence
  • Reveille – played by Andrew Dajski (Flag raised  to masthead)
  • The Lord’s Prayer – Phillip Allnutt
  • Catafalque party to attention, present arms
  • National Anthems – Australia, then New Zealand
  • MC requests all to stand fast while Catafalque Party dismounts.
  • Catafalque party dismounts
  • MC announces conclusion of service, invites members back to RSL.
  • Parade Commander dismisses Parade at Alma Bay.
