REMEMBRANCE DAY 2017

ADF Slouch Hat

Dear friends and members,

The photo gallery for Remembrance Day 2017 has been uploaded for your viewing pleasure. This year the ceremony was held at the MI RSL hall instead of the Alma Bay cenotaph. The intention was to bring focus back to the Memorial hall itself providing for a very dignified and well received ceremony. Due to the success the intention is to conduct Remembrance Day Ceremonies at the hall from now on. ANZAC Day ceremonies will still be conducted at Alma bay.

As always, please contact the RSL Office for copies of these images; larger high definition copies are available.

The Magnetic Island RSL wishes to that all of those who were involved and lent a hand in making it all happen so seamlessly. Thank you, also, to all those who attended this solemn commemoration with us.

The MI RSL is canvassing for additional volunteers to step up and lend a hand with the running of the operation.
The current crew has been in the saddle for well over 5 years already. While every new membership and membership renewal is greatly appreciated there is a buck-load of work that is needed to run the operation and facility.
The Magnetic Island RSL serves a very important role in the community and can be rightly seen as the community Town hall as it provides not only services to veterans, it also serves as a venue for wedding receptions, dance classes, adult education, discussion groups, dinners, celebrations and other events.
Being a not-for-profit charity, all monies raised from such events are ploughed right back into the upkeep of the facility, welfare and the community itself (think School prizes for achievements, for example).
So, if you have a bit of time, no matter how little, please consider lending an active hand by getting in touch with us.

Thanks in Anticipation,
The Magnetic Island RSL Board
